Services and Programs
The Hearing and Speech Foundation offers a variety of services and programs that focus on improving communication and providing the Gift of Sound.
Training Program
Through our training program, educators, speech pathologists and audiologoists have the opportunity to learn the Verbotonal Method of communication and integrate it into their professional lives. This innovative method helps hearing-impaired individuals develop normal speech patterns.
Research and Development Program
This program focuses on improving the performance of hearing aids and enabling the hearing impaired person to function better in the hearing world. The primary goal of the program is to measure the physical properties of the speech signal and relate those measurements to auditory perception and speech of hearing-impaired individuals.
Hearing Aid Assistance
For over 30 years, the Foundation has provided hearing aid assistance to people in need in East Tennessee. We currently serve over 670 individuals in 27 East Tennessee counties. In 1999, the program was expanded to include a mission project in Jamaica.
Hope and Hearing Program
This program provides one-time Audiological testing for children on TennCare or newborns who fail their initail hearing screening.
Hearing Aid Recycling Program
We collect old, used and damaged aids that can be refurbished and placed on our patients. Aids can also be recycled for parts.
