Hearing Aid Recycling Program

Download the PDF Brochure of This ProgramDownload Brochure

In November 2008, The Hearing and Speech Foundation launched the Hearing Aid Recycling Program (HARP) in order to help offset the cost of hearing aids for our patients. Recycled aids are essential to our hearing aid assistance program since they may be repaired and placed on individuals who cannot afford hearing aids. Outdated, broken or damaged hearing aids can be donated to the program and sent back to the original manufacture to be used for parts. Newer aids can be used immediately.

In the first year alone, 157 aids were donated to the Foundation by both private individuals and hearing aid companies. These accounted for just over half of the aids fitted on HSF patients in 2009 and saved the Foundation $20,000 in hearing aid costs.

All donated aids are considered an in-kind contribution to the Foundation. However, we are unable to make value determinations for donated hearing aids and recommend that you keep your receipt of purchase as evidence of the original hearing aid cost. For addition information about donated items to a charitable nonprofit, click here.

For more information about the program, email or call the Foundation at (865) 977.0981.

All donated hearing aids can be mailed to the Foundation office:
