International SUVAG Symposium
Researchers with the Hearing and Speech Foundation’s R&D Program traveled to Zagreb, Croatia, May 2011 to participate in the International Symposium of the Verbotonal System. This year’s conference celebrated 50 years of SUVAG and honored Petar Guberina, the founder of the SUVAG Polyclinic and the Verbotonal Method.
“Man and Speech” was the main topic for the Symposium. Specialists and researchers concerned with hearing, auditory perception, and speech and language were invited to submit topics for presentation.
Our R&D team presented the following topics:
- Acoustic Measurements of Tonality Words at the Eardrum
- Acoustic Measurements of Soft Speech at the Eardrum
- Cochlear Dead Regions: Practical Implications for Speech Perception and Amplification
Presenters include R&D Program coordinator Tony Cooper, HSF CEO and co-founder John Berry, and Dr. Paul Rook, audiologist with Blount Hearing and Speech Services.
The annual symposium is a great opportunity for HSF researchers to not only identify other centers we can collaborate with in research and therapy, but also make professional contacts with other researchers conducting reputable work in the Verbotonal Method. Read more about our experience here.
