Verbotonal Method

Many of the strategies taught by the Training Program are based on the Verbotonal System of Aural/Oral Training, originally developed by Croatian linguist Petar Guberina. For decades this system has influenced auditory training and speech correction techniques used with speech/language disorders of hearing-impaired and normal hearing individuals and with individuals learning a second language. The method has been used and expanded over the years by professionals who find the system beneficial in its emphasis on development of auditory and speech perception through residual hearing. These modified strategies are effective with hearing-impaired clients of all ages amplified via hearing aids or cochlear implants.
